Celebration Cupcake Bake Off 2023

This year we will not be having a Christmas Cookie Bake Off. Instead, we'll be having a new and different bake off - a cupcake bake off!

Why, you may ask? Because we are celebrating our 5th anniversary of Itty Bitty Bakers here in Alabama!

In addition to the bake off, we will be throwing a celebration party open to the public. There we will be food, fun, and games for celebrating our huge milestone!

EVENT DETAILS:

Date/Time: Sunday, October 1, 2023, 2pm-4pm

Ages:

5-14 (for entering a cupcake into the competition)

Location:

Riverchase Galleria Terrace located at 3000 Riverchase Galleria, Suite 375, Hoover, Alabama 35244. This is just outside the Hoover Chamber of Commerce office overlooking the food court.

Judges:

Itty Bitty Bakers teachers past and present will have the honor of taste testing the cupcakes and will collaboratively choose the best one overall! This will be blind judging where participant names will be hidden in order to keep the competition unbiased.

Event Day Procedures:

On the day of the event, participants can arrive anytime between the hours of 2PM to 4PM. There are no set time slots. Participants will be greeted by one of team members and have their picture taken with their cupcakes. (If you do not wish to have your child's picture taken, please let us know.)

Participants will then fill out a form with their name, cupcake name, and contact information. This form will be placed face down underneath their cupcakes for blind judging after the party is over. *Participants will not formally introduce themselves and their baked goods to the judges this year.*

After dropping off your cupcakes, please stick around for the party fun including food, games, and crafts!

Judges will officially begin taste-testing and judging at 4PM. We will contact winners via email and post on social media sometime the next day.

Bake Off Prize:

We will have one grand prize for the Best All-Around Celebration Cupcake. This cupcake will be the one that is the MOST FESTIVE and BEST TASTING cupcake our judges have ever seen!

The winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card, the Wooden Spoon Trophy, and have their recipe featured on our blog and social media pages.

Bake Off Rules:

1. Participants entering a cupcake to be judged must be between the ages of 5-14. All other ages are invited to attend the party!

2. Cupcakes must be brought in a disposable container, treat box, or plate.

3. Participants need to only bring two cupcakes (of the same variety) to view and sample. Additional cupcakes will not be judged.

4. All cupcakes must be homemade by the participant and not purchased from a store.

5. Cupcakes must be made with minimal help from adults (including recipe selection process, grocery shopping, and kitchen cleanup!).

6. Cupcakes must be a standard size (approximately 2 inch diameter).
