Cupcakes are Bad: How NOT to Speak About Food Around Kids
Food is food. Let me say it again - food is food. Food is fuel. We need fuel to live, whatever that source may be. It’s that simple. Explain to kids that some foods are more nutrient-dense that others. Some foods are less nutrient-dense than others. Our role as adults is to help kids choose wisely. That is the key.

Parenting Help: How to Eat the Errors
Part of parenting is letting kids know it's okay to make mistakes. It's okay for things to not be perfect. That's hard for a lot of us to accept.
Baking is a great opportunity for imperfections to be acceptable. Flaws to be forgiven. Mistakes to be overlooked.

The Profile of an Itty Bitty Baker
"Who goes to your baking classes?"
"What is a typical student profile?"
I love these questions because they allow me to explain who our baking classes appeal to and why. There are several common characteristics of our Itty Bitty Bakers students. If you'll allow the generalizations, I'll explain the types of kids we see in class and maybe you can determine if our classes are right for your child.

Summer Camp Showcase: Garden Party Baking Camp

Recipes to Make with Kids: Baked Pancake Bowls
Some people call these baked pancakes, or pancake bowls, or Dutch babies. I'm calling them Baked Pancake Bowls because that fits well with our If You Give a Mouse a Cookie baking camp. No matter what you call it, the end product is simple and delicious. You can eat it as a breakfast, snack, or dessert.

Recipes to Make with Kids: Pineapple Upside Down Cake
My son Luke's favorite thing for him and I to make together is Pineapple Upside Down Cake. If your child isn't a big fan of frosting or if you don't want them to have the sugar load of frosting, this is a great option. Luke and I have made Pineapple Upside Down Cake in a 8-inch round cake pan, 12-cavity muffin pan, and a 6-cavity jumbo muffin pan. We've also made them with regular yellow cake mix, gluten-free yellow cake mix, and from scratch. Every time - delicious!
